Handpan

This handmade handpan is a steel idiophone formed from two hemispherical shells bonded together, with a central “ding” tone field surrounded by a ring of tuned notes. Played with the hands and fingers, it produces hypnotic, harp-like melodies with rich harmonic overtones that suit ambient music, meditation and expressive performance.

Its notes are tuned to a specific scale, which makes it intuitive to play, and no previous musical training is required to get started. It is light and portable enough to take from home to a classroom, studio or street performance.
